Two Amendments on the Ballot

What We're Asking Voters to Decide

Both are structural fixes — changes to how Pompano Beach government works. Voters get the final say.

Your Legal Rights

Florida Law Is On Your Side.

Florida Statute §166.031 guarantees residents the right to place charter amendments on the ballot — no commission vote required.

The Process

How a Citizen Petition Works

1
Collect Signatures
Any registered Pompano Beach voter may sign. Each signature requires printed name, address, and date — made in the presence of a circulator.
2
File With the City Clerk
All petition papers are assembled and filed as one instrument. The Clerk logs the filing date and begins verification.
3
Commission Must Act
Once 5,796 valid signatures are verified, the Commission shall place the amendment on the next general election ballot. They have no legal authority to refuse.
4
Voters Decide
A simple majority is all that's required. If it passes, it becomes part of the Pompano Beach City Charter.
